We offer a variety of fun filled and educational workshops available to not only schools, colleges but also public and domestic events.

These can also be run for birthday parties, christenings and similar events. (by arrangement a planetarium can also be provided)

Launching a rocket

This is with the use of Vinegar and Bicarbonate of soda. Very messy but completely safe. In this we look at what helps rockets get into outer space. We need thrust. This simple experiment helps children to understand the concept. They are each given an opportunity to decorate their rocket, while the demonstrator fires it! (best done in the outdoors)

The money laundry

Children get to see how salt and vinegar can be used to clean penny coins. We see how dirty coins can be cleaned. These can also be supplied by the client so they can rest assured we are not using anything dodgy!
This experiment can go one step further to show how copper extracted into the vinegar can be used to coat steel nuts and bolts!

Build a Hover Craft

Again a very simple and safe thing. We use old DVD’s (or CD’s) to basically make a hovercraft from. Nothing an old drinks bottle and a balloon can’t easily do!

Astronomy

Being an astronomy organisation, we can also offer various talks and workshops. Such as
a) A talk on how to get involved in Astronomy topped with a “Whats Up” in the night sky presentation
b) A basic primer on Astrophotography. We can also look at processing images (from the demonstrators data!).

A talks are presented by an experienced qualified demonstrator who is CRB cleared
