OASA is now able to offer a qualification pathway which can be completed for the large part online, however the course comprises of two  “supervised” projects which means they need to be written in the presence of a superviser. Also there is an exam which MUST be taken at our designated examination centre.

The course takes a year to complete and comes with all the course material, including the book GCSE Astronomy – A guide for Pupils and Teachers, online resources available through our Learning Management System, along with help and advice from our qualified and experienced tutors. Completed in this way the course should need no more than a 4 hour a week commitment and will lead to the qualification of the General Certificate of Secondary Education.

However, if you are one of those who likes to study but without the pressure of assessments or examinations, then our second pathway is ideal. You can still complete the course, participate in the projects (optional, but unsupervised) and take the mock exam (optional). There will be  NO final exam but you will still be enrolled into the academy for the year, as well as being able to ask the tutor questions. You will have the opportunity to gain the knowledge and skills without the assessments, you will not be entitled to the GCSE qualification but will receive a Certificate of Completion showing that you have completed the GCSE syllabus.*It is still recommended that the student does a project to get the most from the course
