Part of the GCSE (9-1) Astronomy course is the learner has to carry out 2 observational tasks from the approved list provided by Edexcel.

Although the observations themselves are NOT assessed towards the final mark, the learner is questioned on them in the exams and they have to provide evidence that they have done them. To this end, the observational tasks need to be signed off.

How exam centres deal with this varies from centre to centre. We will sign off the official Edexcel form if the work is up to standard. We are also happy to do this for a small fee for learners who are not signed up on our subscribed course

Please note, this fee includes

• assessing  observational tasks via email where the material is scanned (or photographed) and sent.
• Signing off and emailing of the observational task form

What the fee doesn’t include

• Support on which tasks to carry out
• Help with planning tasks

If extra administration and communication are required with the exam centre regarding our processes, we may have to charge more, this is at the discretion of your tutor.

Please note, the assigned tutor will take questions ONLY on the Observational Tasks and will not be able to answer general course questions.

Please also note, we accept no liability for the learner failing to complete these on time.

*By reasonable we mean, that the learner does not bombard their advisor with constant queries and work to review and that suggestions made are acted upon before revisions are reviewed (or with good reason if not).

Deadlines to consider

Pearsons Edexcel require observational task sign-offs to be sent in no later than 15 April.

Please check with your nominated exam centre on their deadline, it will most certainly be sooner than 15th April

For those sitting with Tutors and Exams, their deadline is 15 March, which means OUR deadline is 5th March for signing off any material for them.

Once again, we accept no responsiblity for any tasks we are unable to sign off. No refund will be offered if the learner fails to meet any deadlines.

We do appreciate our fees have increased beyond what some learners would consider reasonable, however sadly, as with everyone else we’ve been affected by the cost of living crises as more learners seem to sign up for this than our main products.
